"Is the spend in the budget? If not, how will you make up the difference?"

I think something similar can be asked. Just because something was in the budget, why do you need it? CFOs should be evaluating all spend, not just net new spend.

💯- zero based budgeting. Also - we were not doing anything before so why do we need something now?

100% these should not be net new behaviors for CFOs. This is how responsible leaders run a business.

Also, customization is often over-rated and quickly becomes a hidden cost to maintain. Salesforce is a prime example of that. If I had a nickel for every overly-customized Salesforce implementation, I'd have a $hit ton of nickels.
